Adult Supervision Required

Yup.  What my version of "motherhood" actually looks like.

I always love the weekends.  It means that I get to spend quality time with the family.  Now that the weather is super nice, I'm not recovering from a c-section, and not so friggin' fat-pregnant I've been making arrangements to do more trips out with the kids.

Yesterday we were invited to a little girl's birthday party.  It took us three hours to get ourselves ready and out the door for this one event.

Was the diaper bag updated?  Spud puked on himself, he needs a bath.  Do we bathe Sweet Potato now or just say screw it and wait until after the park?  Are there spare outfits for the kids? Do we have a back up shirt for us in case Spud goes Mount Vesuvius on our clothes?  We need energy drinks!  Run to the Quick Stop FAST!  Sweet Potato is having a tantrum because her shoes are not on her feet fast enough ...

I barely remember the days where one just grabbed keys, cellphone and wallet and then gaily skipped out the front door without a care in the world.   Speaking of, did we grab our cellphones?!  Do we need the car charger?  Where is the camera?!!!!!!

Oh! Can't forget a blanket for the park in case there is nowhere but grass to sit!

The party was lovely.  Sweet Potato had a blast running amok with her little buddy M.  They both bathed each other in dirt and mulch and giggled happily like two little 1 year olds would.

We were exhausted at the end of the day.  So much so that the hubs fell asleep on the floor while Sweet Potato crawled all over him like a hibernating jungle gym.

Today was a bit calmer... sorta.  We needed to run to the store and get supplies.  Thankfully everything was still put together from yesterday that all one needed to do was be properly dressed, stuffed in a car seat and strapped in BOOM ready to go!

An idea was hatched while we were carting around the grocery store a contrary Sweet Potato (Spud was passed out in my ring sling and snoozed away contently) who loves to push buttons and make things light up (like our XBOX and the window air conditioning unit).  The idea was using a simple network switch and taking some extra ethernet cables (with the plastic locks broken off) so that Sweet Potato could plug and unplug the cords as often as she likes and maybe leaves the more important main stuff alone.

The kid LOVES it.

This girl is such a techie!!!

Her mom and dad are so proud.
